To maintain product quality, yield and maximize your dollars, please read this notice about cold temperature and polyurethane foam.
The average monthly temperature difference between Northern and Southern United States during the winter months is 40°F (4°C). The average monthly temperature in Miami, Florida during the winter is 60°F (16°C). This means that in one of the Southern most cities in the United States, during the coldest months of the year, the average ambient air temperature is well below the recommended temperature when spraying foam. Cold weather affects everyone.
The importance of chemical temperature in spray foam is linked to maintaining chemical ratio, maintaining consistent tank pressure, and optimizing foam yield. If spray foam chemical is not conditioned to 75 - 85°F (24-29°C) the foam performance could be poorer quality and could ultimately lead to a loss in yield and therefore a loss in dollars. To reach the optimal chemical temperature before spraying foam, store chemical indoors at a temperature between 75 - 85°F (24-29°C) for at least one day prior to spraying (Fomo's refillable systems and largest kits may need to be stored in the warming area for longer than one day).
