Pyro-Chem Corporation is a leading manufacturer of premixed fire retardant mine sealants, used in the underground coal mining industry. The company was Incorporated in Colorado in 1978. Pyro-Chem relocated to South Point, Ohio in 1992 to be centrally located to the major U.S. underground coalfields, thereby enabling the company to significantly increase production and sales. Pyro-Chem moved to a new 18,500 square foot building, which it currently occupies, in 1994. Approximately sixty-five percent (65%) of all U.S. underground coal production takes place within 200 miles, or four (4) hours, of Pyro-Chem's facility in South Point.

Initially, Pyro-Chem manufactured a liquid fire-retardant coating for use in the construction industry, but started working with underground coal mines in the early 80's to develop a premixed, sprayable mine sealant system. The company gradually moved away from the construction industry and now works exclusively with underground mines in virtually every coal mining region in the country. The mine sealant provides ventilation control and fireproofing that is necessary for underground mines.

Pyro-Chem Corporation currently manufacturers three (3) premixed mine sealants and sell sealant applicators. Pyro-Chem "TC" is normally applied using a hydraulically powered applicator. Pro Seal "TNT" and "SNT" are pastes, which must be applied by hand.
